Although the population of Azerbaijan is largely Islamic, it is a secular country
with no official state religion. Along with numerous mosques, there are Armenian
Apostolic Church, a German Lutheran Church, a Russian Orthodox Church, a
Catholic Church and six synagogues. Azerbaijan sees diversity as one of the
country’s great strengths and virtues.
